5 Indie Movies That Will Stimulate Your Brain
By Andrew Mathwick
It is 100%-guaranteed and scientifically proven that watching indie movies stimulates the frontal cortex in your brain in such a way that makes you feel similar to the way you would after taking large doses of Adderall or drinking a lot of Red Bull really fast. Watching indie movies truly makes you feel like you have wings. Because of how good watching indie movies can make you feel, I’ve compiled a list of the top five indie movies that will truly stimulate your frontal cortex.
These movies are all comedy movies (when in the right mindset).
1. Winter Passing (2005)
Winter Passing is a movie about Zooey Deschanel snorting crack-cocaine in a small Michigan town while visiting her famous writer father. Deschanel is visiting her father because she needs money. Deschanel looks like she has given up in this movie; the movie is very good because of this. Will Ferrell is also in this movie. Ferrell likes to play guitar and is very religious in this movie. Ferrell is not very funny in this movie; this movie is probably Ferrell’s attempt for an Oscar nomination or something. After watching this movie, I promise you will feel less sad about your own life.
2. Bernie (2011)
Bernie is a movie about Jack Black being a funeral director. Black is very good at being a funeral director in this movie. It is not totally clear, but Black might be gay in this movie. The movie takes place in a small Texas town, and everyone in the town is sort of OK with Black being possibly gay. Everyone in the town is sort of OK with Black being maybe-gay because he is such a good funeral director. The director of this movie is the same director of the movie The School of Rock. This movie is nothing like the The School of Rock, but it is still very entertaining. Matthew McConaughey is also in this movie, as a police officer. This movie is based on a true story.
3. The Way Way Back (2013)
The Way Way Back has a great cast, includng Steve Carell, Toni Collette, Allison Janey and Sam Rockwell. The Way Way Back is a movie about a kid who doesn’t like his mom’s boyfriend. Carrell is the boyfriend. The kid gets a summer job at a waterpark. The kid dances at the waterpark, and everyone there starts to like him. Everyone at the waterpark calls the kid Pop ‘N’ Lock.’ This script is penned by one of the co-writers of The Descandents. If you want to watch a movie that is funny but also pretty depressing, you should 100% watch this. Also, Carrell smokes pot in this movie.
4. Lars and the Real Girl (2007)
Lars and the Real Girl is a movie about Ryan Gosling acting crazy while he dates a girl who is a lifelike doll. Gosling buys the lifelike doll girl from a sex site. The lifelike doll’s name is Bianca. Gosling’s brother and sister-in-law pretend that the lifelike doll isn’t a lifelike doll; they pretend that the lifelike doll is a human. Gosling’s brother and sister-in-law tell the whole town that Gosling is crazy, and they tell the town to pretend that the lifelike doll is really a human. I won’t try to spoil any more, but other crazy things happen, and there is a lot of drama, and by the end, Gosling is still crazy.
5. Waitress (2007)
I forgot what the title of this movie was so I typed in, “movie about girl who makes pies and hates life” on Google, and I found the title. The title of this movie is Waitress; and was released in 2007. Waitress is about a girl who is about 35 years old and hates her husband. The girl is very good at making pies, and works at a pie shop where she makes a lot of pies. The girl gets pregnant from her husband, then she makes a lot of pies. The girl is mad that she is pregnant. The girl makes pies that reflect her anger. The names that the girl gives her pies are all very good/crazy. For example, there is “Pregnant Miserable Self Pitying Loser Pie,” “I Hate My Husband Pie,” and even “Old Joes Horny Pie.” All of these pies look extremely delicious in the movie, and on their own make Waitress worth watching.
P.S. That thing I wrote at the beginning about brains might not be true!
